NIITEK OPENS NEW COUNTERMINE / C-IED ENGINEERING CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
NIITEK, Inc., part of the Chemring Group, PLC, the premier provider of Countermine Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems, celebrates the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art Engineering Center of Excellence on September 21stat the Headquarters in Dulles, Virginia.
In June 2010, NIITEK was awarded a fourth production contract for $106.5 million from the US Army, to supply and support seventy six Husky Mine Detection Systems for high reliability clearance of buried mines in support of US peacekeeping operations around the world. Deliveries under the contract will be made over the period to May 2011. This Army contract award has a maximum value of up to $217 Million.
“We are very excited for the grand opening of the Engineering Center of Excellence,” said Juan Navarro, Executive Vice President and General Manager. “This is a momentous achievement and a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the NIITEK employees. This new facility provides us the space to further our R&D to save lives.” In 2008, NIITEK had only 55 employees which has grown to over 260 employees today.
