$78 Million Contract - US Army Fields First Vehicle Mounted Ground Penetrating Radar

NIITEK, Inc. was awarded a $78 Million contract from the United States Army, for HMDS Husky Mounted Ground Penetrating Radar Systems. The Army will start to receive systems in the third quarter of 2009. Earlier in 2009, the Army ordered 30 GPR systems worth in the excess of $30 million.

This award will provide additional Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems for Husky vehicles and are used to detect mines. The NIITEK GPR system provides unparalleled detection of mines and is the first vehicle mounted Ground Penetrating Radar system deployed in Afghanistan. The NIITEK GPR mine detection system was proven far superior to its nearest competition in detection of buried hazard in government tests.

“NIITEK fully understands the importance of these contracts for the Department of Defense” said Fred Clodfelter, President of NIITEK. “We recognize and appreciate the faith that the Services have in our products. Our NIITEK team works extremely hard to develop and produce the world’s best GPR sensors, knowing that our products protect the warfighter and saves lives.”

A subsidiary of Chemring Group PLC, NIITEK is the leading US producer of vehicle mounted GPR systems. NIITEK’s GPR systems are on the leading edge of mine detection technology and are currently being used by US forces to protect soldiers on the ground. NIITEK’s proprietary GPRs have unique properties that make them extraordinarily well suited to the modern war fighting challenge. Capable of being mounted onto any vehicle, the GPR system can be tailored to fit a multitude of roles and functions.
