Lead Quality Assurance Engineer (Sterling, VA)

If you are a QA Engineer with between 4-6 years direct experience in functional, system, and/or integration testing of embedded systems and safety within a mission-critical environment, NIITEK has a place for you.

You must demonstrate the ability to:
 Analyze customer requirements and detailed designs in order to create test cases,
 Execute test cases, log and track defects
 Work with integrated hardware and software in a Linux environment

We design and produce ground-penetrating radar for military and humanitarian applications. Our engineers and the people who support them are committed to developing the premier landmine detection system for robotic and vehicle-mounted platforms. This development of life-saving technology is a long-term opportunity. This position with the R&D team is based in Sterling VA, and supports production in Charlottesville, VA.

In this position located at our Sterling, VA facility, we expect the Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to take our QA department to the next level by helping to create and streamline the QA function and become involved in as many functions in the software development lifecycle as possible. We are looking for someone who has the aspiration and talents to take on a formal leadership role within the company.

Functional responsibilities include:
Building a team of highly motivated QA engineers, reporting to the QA Director.
Designing and implementing QA methodologies and procedures.
 Guiding a high-performance QA team with a strong sense of quality ownership.
 Developing automated regression and performance test suites.
 Developing and executing test plans, tracking and reporting testing coverage.
 Assisting with release post-mortem and analyzing root cause information to improve testing effectiveness.
 Summarizing and publishing defect trends to improve visibility.
 Generating and maintaining QA traceability metrics and charts.
 Reviewing functional requirements, design documents, and defect descriptions for timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.
 Working closely with engineering and operations teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
 Assisting in analyzing and developing automated tests to replicate real-world scenarios.
 Maintaining and improving test plan and test case framework and templates.

 Prioritize effectively in real-time to support business requirements and needs

This is a great opportunity for candidates with the following Talents, Education and Experience:
 The ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET DoD Level Clearance is Required to be considered for this position. Requires US Citizenship and you will be subject to a government security investigation
 Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
 4-6 years direct experience in functional, system, and/or integration testing of embedded systems and safety within a mission-critical environment.
 Demonstrated experience in developing test plans, test cases and strategies.
 Demonstrated experience in executing test methodologies and documenting results.
 Has team leader or management aptitude with top-notch organizational skills and a strong desire for quality.
 Demonstrates the diplomatic skills needed to promote improvements in company-wide Quality Assurance processes.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Excellent technical skills, including software development life cycle methodology knowledge and application.
 Experience working with military programs A PLUS!
 Experience working in CMMi Level 3/4/5 environments A PLUS!
